Taiwan Passport photo requirements:

General

• Applicants must submit two identical color photos taken within the last six months
• Backgrounda must be plain white
• The subject should face forward and look directly at the camera, maintaining a neutral expression with the mouth closed
• The subject must wear no hats except for medical or religious reasons
• Tinted glasses, circle or colored lenses, or thick frames that obscure the eyes should be avoided.
• Eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, both edges of the face, ears, moles, and scars must be clearly visible.

Size and Proportion

• The photograph must measure 45 × 35 mm
• The head size from chin to crown between 32 and 36 mm, meaning the head should occupy 70–80% of the image
• The head must be evenly centered in the frame with the top of the shoulders also visible.

Quality

• The photograph must be free of ink marks, creases, shadows, reflections, or red-eye
• The phtotograph must be high resolution, sharp, and in focus, with natural skin tone, proper brightness, and contrast
• The photograph must be printed on plain, high-quality photographic paper, and not digitally resampled, mirrored, or altered.

Camera and Lighting

• The camera lens should be positioned at eye level at a distance of about 1.2 meters, without the use of digital zoom, with white balance correctly set, 
• The subject should be evenly lit with diffused light sources to eliminate shadows, while outdoor light interference must be avoided to ensure consistent indoor lighting.

Children

• For children, the photo must show only the head and shoulders, and no toys, chairs, pacifiers, or other people may appear in the image.

Digital Submission (BOCA system)

• Digital submissions must be in JPG or JPEG format
• In RGB 24-bit color
• Dimensions should be at least 531 × 413 pixels
• file size must be no larger than 5 MB
