General Photo Requirements
The photo must have been taken within the last six months and must not contain ink marks, stains, folds, or creases.
The photo size must be 4.5 cm high by 3.5 cm wide, without borders.
The image must be a close-up of the head and the top of the shoulders.
The length of the face, from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin, must measure between 3.2 cm and 3.6 cm, meaning the face should occupy approximately 70–80% of the photo.
The applicant’s face must be centered horizontally in the photo.
Facial Expression and Position
The applicant must look directly at the camera with both eyes open and clearly visible.
Facial expression must be natural and neutral, without exaggeration.
The mouth must be closed and teeth must not be visible, except in cases where a medical condition prevents the mouth from closing naturally.
Skin tones must appear natural, with appropriate brightness and contrast.
Hair and Facial Visibility
Hair must not cover any part of the eyebrows or eyes.
The full facial outline must be clearly visible.
The head must not be tilted or turned to either side.
Both sides of the face, both ears, and any distinguishing marks such as moles, birthmarks, or scars must be clearly visible and unobstructed.
For individuals with microtia (small ear condition), hair may cover the ears, but the outline of both sides of the face must still remain clearly visible.
Background and Lighting
The background must be plain white.
Lighting must be even, with no shadows or glare causing uneven brightness on the face.
Red-eye effects are not permitted.
Image Quality and Printing
The photo must be printed in high resolution on high-quality glossy photo paper.
The image must be sharp, clear, and free from blur or jagged edges.
The original image must not be resampled or resized before printing.
If taken with a digital camera, the camera must have at least 3 megapixels and be set to the highest quality and color settings.
Digital retouching or enhancement of the image is not allowed.
Photos printed with poor quality or on paper that is too thin may be rejected.
Glasses and Contact Lens Requirements
If glasses are worn, the eyes must be clearly visible and free from glare or reflections.
Tinted glasses are not allowed, except for visually impaired individuals.
Eyeglass frames must not cover any part of the eyes, and thick-framed glasses should not be worn.
Colored contact lenses or cosmetic circle lenses are not permitted, as they may cause discrepancies with the applicant’s actual appearance and may result in visa rejection or immigration difficulties overseas.
Clothing Requirements
Military, police, or camouflage uniforms and clothing are not permitted.
Religious Head Coverings
Applicants who wear head coverings for religious reasons may do so, provided that all facial features are clearly visible.
The area from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead, as well as both sides of the face, must remain fully visible.
Infant and Young Child Photos
Photos of infants or young children must show only the applicant.
Objects or people such as chair backs, toys, pacifiers, another person, or the assisting photographer’s hands must not appear in the photo.
