  • The lighting should be even throughout the photograph. 
  • There should be no shadows or flash reflections on your face, and there should be no red-eye effect.

Face position and visibility

  • You should face the camera directly. 
  • You should not tilt your head, look away, or turn your face over one shoulder. 
  • Both sides of your face should be clearly visible. 
  • Your eyes should be open and clearly seen, with no hair covering them.

Expression and appearance

  • You should look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and a closed mouth. 
  • You should appear alone in the photograph. 

Glasses

  • If you wear glasses, your eyes should be clearly visible. 
  • There should be no flash reflection on the lenses, and tinted lenses should not be worn. 
  • The frames should not cover any part of your eyes. Where possible, heavy frames should be avoided, and lighter-framed glasses should be worn.

Head coverings

  • Head coverings should not be worn unless they are worn for religious reasons. 
  • If you wear a religious head covering, your facial features should still be clearly visible from the bottom of your chin to the top of your forehead. 
  • Both sides of your face should also be clearly shown.
