Photo Recency
You must provide one recent photograph that is not more than six months old.
Head Size and Face Position
Your head and face must take up 70% to 80% of the photo.
This measurement is taken from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head.
The photo must be zoomed in on the face.
Background
The background must be plain white.
The photo must be taken against a white background so that your facial features are clearly distinguishable and contrast properly against the background.
Photo Quality
The photo must be in color and of clear, sharp quality.
The face must be in focus, and all facial features must be clearly visible.
Paper Quality
The photo must be printed as a high-quality camera print on normal photographic paper.
The paper may have either a glossy or matte finish.
Facial Expression and Pose
You must face straight forward and look directly into the camera.
Your full face must be visible.
Your facial expression must be neutral, and you must not smile.
Your mouth must be completely closed.
Both edges of your face must be clearly visible.
Eyes
Your eyes must be open and clearly visible. For babies, the eyes must also be open.
Headgear
Hats, caps, and other head coverings are not allowed unless they are worn for strictly religious, medical, or ethnic reasons.
Even when headgear is allowed, your full facial features must be completely visible from the tip of the chin to the forehead.
Glasses
Glasses, sunglasses, dark lenses, and tinted lenses are not allowed.
Prescription glasses may only be worn if permitted, and the frames must not cover your eyes or cause glare on the lenses.
Clothing
Uniforms are not allowed. You must wear regular everyday clothing.
