Printed Photo Requirements

  • Size: 35 mm wide × 45 mm high.

  • Face (chin to crown): must measure between 25 mm and 35 mm, positioned centrally.

  • Paper: must be printed on matte or semi-matte (non-reflective) photo paper only. Glossy prints are not accepted.

Digital Photo Requirements

  • Dimensions: 400 × 514 pixels.

  • File types: jpg, jpeg, heic, heif, png.

  • Maximum file size: 8 MB.

  • Must be clear, sharp, and not pixelated.

Common Requirements (apply to both printed and digital photos)

  • Recency: photo must have been taken within the last 3 months.

  • Colour: photo must be in full colour with natural skin tones.

  • Lighting: even brightness across the face, with no harsh shadows.

  • Image clarity: face must be clearly visible, not blurry, pixelated, or distorted.

  • Framing: both shoulders and the full head of hair must appear in the frame.

  • Expression: neutral facial expression with mouth closed, eyes fully visible, looking directly at the camera.

  • Background: plain white only, with no patterns, textures, or shadows.

  • Headgear: permitted only if worn for religious or cultural reasons; must be dark in colour and must not obscure facial features.

  • Spectacles: allowed only if lenses are clear and untinted, with eyes fully visible. No glare or reflections should block visibility of the eyes.

  • Contact lenses: only clear, non-coloured contact lenses are permitted.

  • Red eye: photographs with red eye effect will be rejected.

  • Alteration: photos must not be flipped, digitally altered, or manipulated, since this may change identifiable features such as hair direction or moles.
