Size and Composition

  • The photo must measure exactly 35 mm x 45 mm. 
  • It must clearly show the entire face from the chin tip to the crown of the head, as well as both sides of the face. 
  • The face should occupy between 70% and 80% of the image, corresponding to a height of 32–36 mm. Under no circumstances may the face height be less than 32 mm. 
  • The face must also be positioned in the center of the photo.

Focus and Contrast

  • The face must be in sharp focus across all areas, showing clear detail without blurring. T
  • he photo must have good overall contrast so that facial features are easily distinguished.

Lighting

  • The face must be evenly lit with no harsh shadows, bright reflections, or red-eye effects. 
  • Lighting must ensure that all features are visible without any distortion.

Background

  • The background must be a single bright color, preferably neutral grey. 
  • It must contrast sufficiently with both the face and the hair. 
  • It cannot include patterns, shadows, objects, or other people.

Photo Quality

  • The photo must be printed on high-quality photo paper at a resolution of at least 600 dpi, especially in the case of digital prints. 
  • Colors must remain neutral, and skin tones must appear natural. 
  • The photo must be free of creases, smudges, or any other impurities.

Head Position and Expression

  • The head must be held straight, not tilted or turned, and the photo must be taken in portrait orientation. 
  • The person must display a neutral expression, with the mouth fully closed and the eyes looking directly into the camera.

Eyes and Line of Sight

  • The eyes must be open, fully visible, and not covered by hair or spectacle frames. 
  • The person must be looking directly at the camera so the line of sight is straight.

Glasses

  • If glasses are worn, the eyes must remain clearly visible. Reflections on the lenses, tinted lenses, or sunglasses are not acceptable. 
  • Frames must not obscure any part of the eyes.

Headwear

  • Headwear is generally not permitted. Exceptions are made only for religious reasons, but even in such cases the entire face from the chin to the forehead must remain visible.
  • No shadows from the headwear may fall on the face.
