Face Size

  • The face must take up 70% to 80% of the photograph. 

Background

  • The background must be plain, uniform, and light-colored. Acceptable background colors include white.

Photo Recency

  • The photo must have been taken within the last 6 months so that it accurately reflects the applicant’s current appearance.

Facial Expression

  • The applicant must have a neutral facial expression, with the mouth completely closed and both eyes open and clearly visible.

Headwear

  • Hats, caps, and other head coverings are not allowed unless they are worn strictly for religious or medical reasons. 
  • Even when headwear is permitted, the face must be fully visible from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead.

Glasses

  • Prescription glasses may be worn if the applicant normally uses them. 
  • However, the frames must not cover the eyes, the lenses must not be tinted, and there must be no glare or heavy shadows on the lenses.
