Photo size and format
The photo must measure 35 × 45 mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm).
Digital photos should normally be in JPG/JPEG format and of good resolution.
Photo age
The photo must be recent, taken within the last 6 months.
Background
Use a plain, light-colored background (white or light grey).
No shadows, patterns, or objects in the background.
Face position and expression
Face must be fully visible and centered.
Look directly at the camera with your head straight.
Keep your eyes open and mouth closed with a neutral expression.
The photo should show your entire head and the top of your shoulders.
Clothing and accessories
No sunglasses or tinted glasses.
No hats or head coverings, except for religious reasons, as long as the face remains fully visible.
Wear normal everyday clothing; avoid uniforms and costumes.
Photo quality
The image must be sharp, clear, and in color with even lighting and no reflections.
Printed photos must be on high-quality photo paper.
Number of photos
Usually 1–2 photos are required, depending on the visa office.
Children
The same size and general rules apply.
Only the child may appear in the photo, and the face must be clearly visible.
