Technical specifications

  • Size of printed photograph: 40 millimeters in width x 50 millimeters in height.

  • The size of the head, measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the crown, must fall within the range of 32 to 36 millimeter

  • The head must be positioned centrally in the frame with sufficient space above the head.

  • Background of the photograph: plain white without any patterns, textures, or colors

  • For digital submission, the file must be in JPEG format with a maximum file size of 5MB.

  • When the photograph is captured by scanner, the resolution must be 600 dpi, and the scanned size must remain 40mm × 50mm.

  • When the photograph is captured by a digital camera, the minimum acceptable image size is 1200 pixels in width and 1600 pixels in height.

Applicant appearance

  • The applicant must face the camera directly so that the photograph shows a full frontal view with clear and distinct facial features visible.

  • Head coverings or headdresses are not allowed, except where worn for religious or medical reasons, and the applicant’s facial features must remain clearly visible in all cases.

  • The applicant should avoid heavy makeup that may obscure natural appearance, and clothing that is excessively dark or excessively light in color should also be avoided, as this may reduce contrast against the white background.

  • Glasses should not obstruct the eyes; frames must not cross the eyes, and there should be no glare or reflection from lenses.

  • Hair must not cover the eyes or eyebrows, as this would obscure the applicant’s natural appearance.

  • The photograph must be free of visible shadows on the face or background, and the lighting must be even so that the face is neither too bright nor too dark.

Handling of photographs

  • Physical photographs must be kept in pristine condition. They must not be folded, stapled, clipped with paper fasteners, or written on in any way.

  • Any physical alteration, such as damage, marks, or folding, will render the photograph unsuitable for use in official travel documents.
