General Requirements

  • Head coverings are not allowed, but exceptions can be made for religion or medical reasons. 
  • Uniforms must not be visible in the photos.

Format

  • The photo must show the face clearly from chin to crown (top of the head, not hair). 
  • The face should cover 70–80% of the photo, which is 32–36 mm.
  • The face must be in the center of the photo.

Focus and Contrast

  • The photo must be sharp, clear, and with good contrast.

Lighting

  • The photo must have even lighting. 
  • Shadows, reflections, and red eyes are not allowed.

Background

  • The background must be plain, bright, and ideally grey. 
  • It must contrast with the face and hair. 
  • No patterns are allowed. 
  • Only the person should be in the photo. 
  • Shadows in the background are not allowed.

Photo Quality

  • The photo must be printed on high-quality paper with at least 600 dpi resolution.
  •  Colour photos must have natural skin tones. 
  • The photo must be clean and free from damage or creases. 
  • Photos can be in colour or black and white.

Head Position and Facial Expression

  • The head must face forward, not tilted or turned. 
  • The expression must be neutral, with the mouth closed and eyes looking at the camera.

Eyes and Line of Sight

  • The person must look straight at the camera. 
  • Eyes must be open, clear, and not blocked by hair or glasses.

Glasses

  • Eyes must be visible without reflection, tint, or sunglasses. Glasses frames must not cover the eyes.

Head Coverings

  • Hats or coverings are not allowed except for religion. If worn, the face must be fully visible from chin to forehead. 
  • No shadows on the face are allowed.
