Posture

  • Head must face straight forward, not tilted.
  • Eyes must look directly at the camera.
  • Shoulders must face forward; no angled poses.
  • Both ears do not need to be visible.

Lighting

  • Light must be even, with no shadows or bright spots.
  • No red-eye is allowed.
  • Lighting must look natural, not coloured.
  • Photo must not be overexposed or underexposed.

Expressions, glasses, head-wear, make-up

  • Expression must be neutral.
  • Mouth must stay closed (babies may have it slightly open).
  • Eyes must be open without squinting.
  • Hair or accessories cannot cover the face.
  • Glasses must not block or reflect over the eyes; frames must be thin.
  • Tinted glasses or eyepatches are only allowed for medical use.
  • Wigs are allowed for daily medical use but must not block the face.
  • Head coverings are allowed for religious or medical reasons but must not shadow the face.

Background

  • The best background is light grey.
  • It must be plain, flat, and neutral.
  • No shadows are allowed.
  • Face, hair, and clothes must stand out clearly.
  • No other people or objects may appear; supporting hands must not be visible.
